Apollo 6 RED BBK033RED-1

Apollo-6 ‘road’ variant calipers feature the same class-leading technological innovations debuted in the Apollo-4 range but in a larger 6-piston design. Apollo-6 calipers utilise a pad with larger volume (+20% vs. Apollo-4) which means the Apollo-6 is well suited to heavy-duty brake applications such as hot hatchbacks, super saloons, sports cars, supercars and high-performance trucks, SUVs and 4x4s.

Every caliper body is hard-anodised for longevity and then painted with a high-temp TeflonTM polyester topcoat available in four striking colours: Race Red, Stealth Black, Storm, Shadow Blue, and Luminous Yellow.

Apollo-6 road calipers feature differential bore diameters to reduce pad taper, along with aluminium pistons with castellated crowns to minimise heat conduction into the hydraulics. Full dust boot type seals help to prevent dust and debris from entering the piston bore and damaging the fuid seals, meanwhile, all metal hardware is stainless steel to eliminate corrosion and ensure each caliper continues to look and function great for years. The Apollo-6 uses a very common pad shape that is widely available from any pad manufacturer, and rapid pad changes are facilitated from the top of the caliper by removing the central H-shaped bridge piece.

Calipers can accommodate 330 to 380mm diameter rotors and are available in two thickness variants, for 32mm and 36mm rotors. Every caliper is cast, machined, assembled and pressure tested in England, ensuring each caliper is of the highest quality.

Apollo Caliper Range Overview

EBC Racing’s Apollo caliper series is available in both 4-piston and 6-piston variants and offers more ‘bang for your buck’ than just about any other performance brake caliper on sale. Every caliper is cast, machined, assembled and pressure tested in England and incorporates technology usually reserved for calipers with considerably higher price tags.

Apollo calipers are available in either ‘road’ or ‘race’ variants. Road variants utilise full dust boot type seals with aluminium pistons and are finished with an attractive high-temperature gloss topcoat. Race variants feature in-bore wiper dust seals, stainless steel pistons and a hard-anodised unpainted finish.

Every Apollo caliper uses high-temp fluid seals meaning both road and race calipers are highly durable on track. Apollo calipers utilise common pad shapes that are widely available from any respectable pad manufacturer in a wide array of friction materials. Opting for an EBC Apollo caliper does not limit you to EBC friction.

Apollo brake caliper bodies are pressure cast rather than gravity cast this results in a highly homogenous casting with strength getting close to a forged caliper body but for the cost of a cast caliper. This theme of punching above its weight epitomises the Apollo caliper range. Whilst some competitors offer calipers of higher performance than the Apollo range, for 90% vehicle applications the significant increase in cost to achieve a slight increase in performance is entirely overkill, it’s a case of chasing marginal gains.

Apollo brake calipers hit the sweet spot between out-and-out performance and reasonable cost making them the obvious choice for real world customers working to a finite budget that must be spread across a variety of vehicle
upgrades.
