The BMW N55 and S55 engines are renowned for their performance, but their factory crank bolt is equally notorious for backing out under high load, vibration, or aggressive shifting. This can lead to the crank hub coming loose and spinning out of time with the crankshaft, which can cause timing drift and catastrophic engine failure. The 034Motorsport Crank Bolt Capture Plate is engineered to eliminate this failure mode by physically locking the OE crank bolt in place, ensuring long-term reliability for both stock and high-power builds.

One of the most critical failure points on BMW’s N55 and S55 engines stems from the design of the factory 3-piece crank hub and the single crank bolt that secures it. Under normal driving, the system remains adequately clamped.
